Sweet As Candy
INT. HOME-DAY
A cute and neat home. CLOSE-UP SHOTS of framed embroidered flowers. CLOSE_UP SHOT of a tray of organized candies but some are missing. And CLOSE-UP SHOT of a journal with a pen on top lying on the table.

NARRATOR (VOICE-OVER)
I always liked to believe I am sweet.
I have always been and I always will be.
Sweet like candy,
my favourite thing in the whole world,
Perhaps even sweeter.
CUT TO:
INT.BEDROOM-DAY

The NARRATOR a young girl in her late teens, getting ready. Brushing her teeth. Brushing her hair. Picking out a dress. CLOSE-UP of her fixing the dress. CLOSE-UP of her putting blush on her cheeks and then smiling to herself.

NARRATOR (V.O)
I begin my day like anyone else.
I brush my teeth, then my hair.
Then I put on a dress, the dress I find the prettiest.
I apply my make-up.
Not a lot, but just enough to complete my desired look.
And then I start my day.

CUT TO:
INT. DINING ROOM-DAY
NARRATOR is walking into the dining room and glances at the tray of candy laid out on the table. She takes a piece of candy and eats it

NARRATOR (V.O)
I always need to take a piece of candy.
It has in a way, become a ritual for me.
Especially when I have a specific task.
I take a piece of candy to make sure my day goes right.
I’ve been doing this for two years now.

NARRATOR takes a seat at her dining table and reaches for her journal.

NARRATOR (V.O)
I’ve always enjoyed writing in my journal.
It helps calm me down before a task.

NARRATOR opens her journal to a blank page and begins to write. CLOSE-UP of NARRATOR’S face. EXTREME CLOSE-UP of the pen moving. SHOT of the journal.

NARRATOR (V.O)
I’m excited about today, it’s going to be fun!
I remember the first time I started this,
I was so nervous but not anymore.
Looking back to two years ago.

BEGIN FLASHBACK:

NARRATOR
Focus on your breathing

NARRATOR breathes deeply for a few breaths to calm down. NARRATOR shakes her head and continues pacing back and forth.

NARRATOR (V.O)
I laugh thinking back to it.
I was so nervous for no reason,
My plan worked in the end.
It always has,
And always will.

NARRATOR stops pacing when she notices her journal pushed aside. She sits down, reaches for her notebook and begins to write.

END FLASHBACK.
INT.DINING TABLE-DAY.

NARRATOR is still writing in her journal, but she is smiling. CLOSE-UP of journal but now with more things written out.

NARRATOR (V.O)
Thinking back to how my plan still works today is foolproof
It all starts with making a friend.
Easy for me since I am so sweet.
Everyone believes so.
Then I invite them over.
To hang out, or something

FLASHBACK CONTINUES:

INT.NARRATOR AT DINING TABLE-DAY

NARRATOR puts journal aside and walks up to open door. Enters in NARRATOR’s FRIEND. LOW SHOT of the NARRATOR and FRIEND’S legs as the FRIEND enters the room.

NARRATOR
Hey!

LOW SHOT of the NARRATOR and FRIEND hugging.

NARRATOR (V.O)
That’s part one of the plan.
But it always works out so perfectly.
I greet them nicely, hug them and welcome them.
Then once they’re all settled in I ask

JESSICA goes to sit on the couch. NARRATOR stands still with her hands behind her back as she’s smiling.

NARRATOR
Do you want some candy?

TRACKING SHOT of NARRATOR walking into the living room

NARRATOR (V.O)
I’m sweet.
The constant sweet facade I always have on makes people believe it.
As it makes me believe it too.

PAN SLOWLY:
To the back of the NARRATOR.

NARRATOR(V.O)
However, the things I have done in the past two years would say different.

CLOSE UP SHOT of the knife the NARRATOR is holding behind her back.

NARRATOR (V.O)
The thing I am about to do to my friend would say different.
